First Experience with Google Translators

Had my first intercontinental A/V experience with Beijing. Principal at Qiyi Primary who didn't speak English. And me, who didn't speak Chinese. But, we giggled, tried to talk in our language slower and louder, as if that would somehow make it easier for the other to understand, and prodded forward. Walking around with MacBook w/camera, showing this or that, pausing to use Google Translators to bang out one or two sentences, translate it, then copy and paste....on the giggling went. All in all, it was clear that the translators were working, although sometimes we'd have to back up and type our thought a different way, then translate. REACH has started for me, I think it can work, and be helped by A/V and Google translators, patience and each other teaching the other a little bit more about how to speak in their language. Wild.....the connected world.....;-)

Ahhh......
